I am a 2010 graduate of Regent University's School of Communication and the Arts and the Robertson School of Government where I completed a dual master's degree in communication and government. A 2007 graduate of Pensacola Christian College, I also hold a bachelor's degree in English with minors in history, political science, and journalism.
My desire as I began my master's degree in journalism was to add a conservative voice to the news media. My journalism program was unique in that I was trained to function as a journalist for the new millennium. As the culminating experience for my degree, I completed internships in Washington, D.C. with the American Journalism Center at Accuracy in Media, a media watchdog group, and with Regnery Publishing while at the National Journalism Center.
I also have limited experience in broadcast news reporting and producing that included a course in video editing. In addition, I was able to volunteer in a course that allowed me to gain valuable studio experience in front of a camera. I am particularly interested in opportunities to cover the often ignored, but incredibly subversive entertainment industry. I believe that the messages that Hollywood and the music industry communicate both overtly and covertly has an equal or greater to the harm that can be done via Capitol Hill or the news media.
Technology has drastically changed the way people communicate. With the advent of online news and a 24 hour news cycle, journalists have greater challenges and newer ways to deliver the news. While tv and the internet have changed the way the story is delivered, visual storytelling is an important and vital tool for any journalist.

In a world where little is in black and white, the journalist reports facts that inform people, allowing them to make up their minds about the key issues of the day. As the world grows smaller and more and more information abounds, the role of a journalist becomes more and more significant. I believe that it’s the journalist’s responsibility to cover timely stories accurately, without bias, for the audience to process.
